using SNMP to access the
WMI subsystem of remote Windows XP, 2000, 2003,
Vista and 2008
systems.

Supporting SETS, the WMI-OS version allows you to remotely:
Informant-WMI was primarily developed for system administrators who are
interested in gathering detailed WMI system and operational (not necessarily
performance) information from their deployed Windows infrastructure using SNMP,
and SNMP management software developers looking to add significant functional
enhancements to their programs.
Until now, if you wanted to collect WMI statistics from a remote Windows
system, you'd have to make the request from another Windows system. This
is because in a typical WMI management environment, DCOM is used to make remote
connections from one device to another. This is no longer the case!
Our agent does the SNMP to WMI conversion work for you, and eliminates the
requirement to use a Windows system at the requesting side. Any SNMP
compliant application will work!
-
Informant-WMI works across domains! Conventional WMI and PDH require
authentication
-
Informant-WMI is faster than VBScript calls to WMI!
-
Informant-WMI agents do not require the prerequisite Advanced SNMP agent
like the Application Plus Packs do! They can be purchased separately.
Event log monitoring is now possible with WMI-OS through the addition of 2
new WMI classes (OID branches)! Check out the screenshots below. It
should be noted that full SNMP walks in the
informant.wmiOperatingSystem.wmiEventLog.win32NTLogEventTable tree can take a
LONG time (depending on how big your Event logs are.
And, while SNMP Informant will run on servers, consider the benefits of
installing this agent across the workstations deployed within your organization!
Asset Management agents are not cheap, and with SNMP Informant-WMI, you can take
a big step towards asset management at a fraction of the price!
What can the I monitor with the WMI Provider for OS?
While only scratching the surface, here are a couple of examples of what you
can do with SNMP Informant. Following are a couple of examples.

Note that not all OIDS will be populated. The SNMP
Informant WMI Provider for Hardware only connects to the hardware WMI classes,
and sometimes those classes have no data because the hardware does not populate
the classes. Be sure to download the SNMP Informant evaluation and and try
the WMI-Hardware Provider to see if it provides the data you need.

Virtual Server -
When installed on a
server running Virtual Server, this software agent allows you to collect
information on Virtual Servers you have created.
Now a free download,
Microsoft Virtual Server allows organizations to maximize hardware
utilization, and rapidly configure and deploy new servers.
SNMP Informant WMI Provider for VirtualServer allows you to
access operational and performance data from your virtual server infrastructure
using SNMP. This can be done from a Windows or non-Windows network
management system.

Hyper-V -
Microsoft Hypervisor or Hyper-V,
is a virtual machine manager, which is a program that allows multiple
operating systems to share a single physical host (hardware). Each
operating system appears to have the host's processor, memory, and other
resources all to itself, however, the hypervisor is actually controlling the
host processor and resources, allocating what is needed to and for each
virtual operating system.
SNMP Informant WMI Provider for Hyper-V allows you to connect to the Hypervisor
and collect operational and state data.

SNMP Informant Performance Provider for Hyper-V allows you to connect to the Hypervisor
and collect operational and state data.
